The Morbark BVR16 is a 16-inch capacity brush chipper featuring Morbark's patented ZeroClutch system and aggressive 4-knife staggered drum. Gas-engine BVR16 machines run a PSI 6.0L V8 rated at 174 HP with a three-way catalytic converter. The continuous high-load demands of professional chipping accelerate catalyst wear. Why Catalytic Converters Fail on This Machine
Wood chippers run at wide-open throttle continuously — a duty cycle few engines sustain for hours at a stretch. That constant high-load operation drives exhaust temperatures well above the normal operating range, accelerating catalyst substrate degradation. PSI engines are GM Vortec-based with port fuel injection, and as valve seals wear over time they introduce small amounts of oil into the combustion chamber. Oil contamination is one of the fastest ways to destroy a three-way catalyst: the phosphorus and zinc additives in engine oil coat the precious-metal substrate and permanently reduce conversion efficiency. Once that happens, the only fix is a rebuild.

- Get your converter to us. Choose drop-off or shipping at checkout and we’ll send instructions — drop-off is by appointment at our Foxboro shop, or ship it to us from anywhere in the country. We rebuild your unit with new internals.
