Vermeer BC1500XL Diesel Catalytic Converter Rebuild
The Vermeer BC1500 and BC1500XL are 15-inch capacity brush chippers with Vermeer's SmartFeed system. Diesel versions run a Cummins Tier 4 Final engine with DOC/DPF aftertreatment. The stop-start cycle of production chipping degrades these systems over time. New England Supply House rebuilds them through our core-exchange program.

Why Catalytic Converters Fail on This Machine
Cummins Tier 4 Final aftertreatment on this engine uses a diesel oxidation catalyst and diesel particulate filter. The compact size makes it a popular choice for mid-size chippers, but the aftertreatment system requires consistent operating conditions to regenerate properly. Wood chipper duty — bursts of high load followed by shutdown — limits passive regen cycles. Progressive soot loading and ash accumulation degrade the DPF substrate over time, reducing exhaust flow and triggering backpressure fault codes.
What’s Included in the Rebuild
- Full disassembly and inspection of the catalyst housing and substrate
- New catalyst substrate installed to OEM specifications
- Reassembly using your existing housing (core exchange — your housing returns to you)
- Performance verification before return shipping
- Warranty against manufacturing defects
How Core Exchange Works
- Call or submit the fitment check form — we confirm your machine’s engine and emissions configuration before you ship anything.
- Remove your catalytic converter and ship the core to us with tracking and insurance. Ship to: New England Supply House, 14 Pinto Way, Mansfield, MA 02048
- We rebuild and return your core within 3–5 business days.
