The Carrier HK32EA005 is a defrost control. In a heat pump, the defrost control monitors outdoor coil conditions and initiates and terminates the defrost cycle, briefly reversing the system to clear frost from the outdoor coil so heating capacity and efficiency are maintained in cold weather. A faulty defrost control can lead to an iced-over outdoor coil or unnecessary defrost cycles. This is a genuine Carrier replacement part.
