Carrier P291-0554 Dual Run Capacitor

The Carrier P291-0554 is an oval dual run capacitor rated 5/5 MFD at 440V. A dual run capacitor combines two capacitor sections in a single can with a shared common terminal, so one unit can serve two motors, such as a compressor and a condenser fan motor, in an air conditioner or heat pump condensing unit.

Run capacitors stay in the circuit while the motor operates, providing the phase shift the motor needs to start and run efficiently. A weak or failed capacitor causes hard starting, overheating or a motor that hums but will not turn. This is a genuine Carrier replacement part.
